بررسی تا ثیر انفوزیون رمیفنتانیل با دوز پایین بر روی پاسخهای بیمار به لوله تراشه طی بیدار شدن از بیهوشی عمومی

Aim and Background: Emergence from general anesthesia can be associated with coughing, agitation, and hemodynamic disturbances. Remifentanil may attenuate these response, so we examined the effects of maintaining a remifentanil infusion in the recovery room, on recovery profiles such as coughing and cardiovascular responses after general anesthesia. Methods and Materials:In a prospective, double...

Short-term use of remifentanil during endotracheal extubation for prophylactic analgesia in neurosurgical patients after craniotomy (SURE after Craniotomy Study): a study protocol and statistical analysis plan for a randomised controlled trial

INTRODUCTION Acute pain is common during the endotracheal extubation period, and is related to complications and adverse outcomes. Patients with delayed extubation after craniotomy are vulnerable to pain and complications of extubation. However, pain control during extubation is still inadequate. Remifentanil, a new opioid with rapid onset and short duration of action, provides adequate analges...

A Comparative Study of Remifentanil/Propofol versus Alfentanil/Propofol for Wake-up Test in Major Spinal Surgery

Background: Early warning of potential damage to spinal cord during major spinal surgery is highly desirable to prevent post-operative neurological deficits. Wake-up test is a simple, safe and reliable method of recognition of such a complication, and has been extensively used in many spinal surgical units. The present study is evaluating the remifentanil, propofol versus alfentanil, propofol a...

Propofol and remifentanil effect-site concentrations estimated by pharmacokinetic simulation and bispectral index monitoring during craniotomy with intraoperative awakening for brain tumor resection.

Different anesthetic techniques have been suggested for craniotomy with intraoperative awakening. We describe an asleep-awake-asleep technique with propofol and remifentanil infusions, with pharmacokinetic simulation to predict the effect-site concentrations and to modulate the infusion rates of both drugs, and bispectral index (BIS) monitoring. Five critical moments were defined: first loss of...

Control of emergence hypertension after craniotomy for brain tumor surgery.

OBJECTIVE To compare the anti-hypertensive effects of both remifentanil and esmolol infusion. METHODS This prospective comparative study was conducted on 20 patients (10 patients in each group), in the Neurosurgical Theater of Kasr Elaini Hospital, Cairo, Egypt from 2006 to 2008. The patients were divided into 2 equal groups. In group one, remifentanil was used as a bolus of one ug/kg intrave...
